Trea Turner Is An Absolute Star
I know a lot of non-Nats fans read this website. A lot of Boston folks up in here. So I need you to know this- Trea Turner is an absolute star. He is everything you want in a baseball player. Must-see TV every time he’s at bat. He has 4.2 speed and the ability to beat out routine grounders. He has stand-up triples to left field. Has 14 steals and 6 triples in just 37 games. And though the Nats have lost 4 in a row, over the last 2 games Trea Turner put on a clinic, going 8/8 until striking out in his final AB last night, ending his chances of setting a Nats record for recording 9 hits in 9 straight ABs. At just 22 years old, he is already a premier lead off hitter in the league.
The thing about Trea is he changes games. In his limited amount of time in the majors, we’ve seen his speed on the base paths score runs that very, very few other guys in the league could score. His awareness is off the charts, and I wouldn’t be shocked if he led the league in runs scored next season.
The Nats lineup is scary good. Your boy Bryce Harper, coming off the worst month of his baseball career where he batted just .176, has found his pop again to the tune of a .333 average in August. Anthony Rendon is also putting together a very solid month, hitting .338 with 18 RBI.
With Joe Ross coming back from injury and Strasburg hopefully just on the DL for precautionary measures, a healthy Nats team is a dangerous Nats team. And they need to be healthy, because the Cubs, well god damn the Cubs are just scary good.
