Will Ferrell And John C. Reilly Are Teaming Up Again For A Sherlock Holmes Comedy

Screen Shot 2016-08-18 at 8.13.40 AM

Deadline- After faring so well together in Talladega Nights and Step Brothers, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are re-teaming in another Sony Pictures comedy. They’ll star in Holmes & Watson, with Etan Cohen directing a script that is inspired by the Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes tale, but with a PG-13 comic bent similar to their past collaborations. Ferrell and Reilly have been looking for several years to find another opportunity to work together, and now they’ve got it. Ferrell will play Holmes and Reilly will play his faithful wing man, Watson.

Fuck. Yes. If you don’t like Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly movies then you should stop reading right now. Maybe just stop living all together. Talladega Nights is awesome and Step Brothers is one of the best buddy comedies of all time. There’s nothing better than these two guys doing a movie together. It doesn’t even matter what the subject matter is. Their chemistry and weirdness make it work. The first headline I saw about this simply said Ferrell and Reilly were joining forces again. I didn’t know what the movie about nor did I care. I’ll buy a ticket regardless. I could watch those two in a movie about watching paint dry. They’d be able to make it funny. Sherlock Holmes spoof? Sure why not. I’m 200% in. Is it too much of a stretch to call them the Pippen and Jordan of this comedy generation? I don’t think so. I think it’s pretty accurate actually. I’m just happy they’re gonna lace’em up again.

The list of things that can motivate my fat ass to go to the movie theater reads like this

3. Disney animated movies (if you don’t love these movies you are a direct relative of Satan)

2. Quentin Tarantino

1. Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly

That’s it. Everything else I can wait until it’s OnDemand.
