Jim Furyk Just Shot 58! Lowest Round in PGA Tour History

Wowzers. PGA Tour dad Jim Furyk just did what no man has done before — he just shot 58 on the PGA Tour. 58! 12-under par. 18/18 greens in regulation. Went from 16 shots back to — when he finished — just 4 off the lead. Unreal. Jim Furyk is probably the most stereotypical dad in sports. He looks like your dad. He talks like your dad. He dresses like your dad. His backswing even looks like your dad’s. The difference? Jimmy’s about 40 shots better.

He went out in an absurd 27.

Then birdied 10, 11, and 12 to get to dash 11 thru 12. The #58watch was on. After a couple disappointing pars, including a horseshoe lip out for bird on 15, he made this bomb on 16 to get to -12.

This isn’t Furyk’s first sub-60 round. He was already one of just six guys to shoot 59: Al Geiberger (1977), Chip Beck (1991), David Duval (1999), Paul Goydos (2010), Stuart Appleby (2010), Jim Furyk (2013).

Oh and Phil Mickelson’s 59 1/2 in 2013.

What a round. Gotta love Jimmy. Bring on the Ryder Cup!
