A Tired Mom Going Viral For A Post On Having A Quickie To Keep Her Husband Sane Is A Great Reason To Never Get Married

Maybe one of the marrieds or dads around here would have a much more enlightened take on this, one in which a guy should be so appreciative that the wife is willing to have sex at all given how exhausting being a parent is, and I’m sure they’re right and eventually all of us adapt to that mindset in a serious adult relationship. But for me, right now as someone who’s realized later in life that I’m generally commitmentphobic, this sounds like the saddest, most King of Queens-inspired take on a mediocre marriage I’ve ever heard of and it only makes me more deathly afraid of getting ensnared into that world. One time on a trip a then-engaged-now-married friend of mine was talking to me about how I needed to pick someone I was dating and go with it, how it wasn’t about finding the best person as much as the one who works best for you. And you see that settling everywhere as you cross from your late 20s past 30, girls you knew in high school who were once dating ripped Ivy League investment bankers are now getting married to bald and pudgy restauranteurs whom they’ve been dating for three months, guys looking like hostages in their own engagement photos, ultimately not the most surprising that the divorce rate is what it is.

And then this is on the other side, a mom who’s going viral for being brave enough to make her marriage work by letting her husband passive aggressively talk about the dangerous PSI levels in his ballsack all day and drape his cock on her shoulder before letting him push his sad pud inside of her for 120 seconds out of obligation. I mean my God is that really the upside for 40% of the marriages out there (50% end in divorce, I’ll pretend 10% are blissfully overjoyed for the sake of us all)? With all this information it’s basically like I’d be getting married just for the sake of having cool pictures, a nice party and vacation, and not having a kid called a bastard. But even then that worked out for Jon Snow so what are we really hanging onto here? Really making me think today, Modern Mumma.
