Richmond - Washington Redskins general manager Scot McCloughan arrived at training camp on Friday with his left hand wrapped. On ESPN 980, former player Chris Cooley shared the story of what happened, which involved a team doctor calling McCloughan to share injury news about receiver Josh Doctson, a first-round draft pick.

“I said, ‘What happened to your hand?'” Cooley recalled on the radio. “He said, when I found out about Doctson – which they thought was going to be much worse, the Doctson injury, apparently it isn’t going to be as bad – I punched the wall.”
Cooley then shared his appreciation for the story.

“I just thought, ‘I love you. I freaking love you, man,'” Cooley said. “Everything he does. He cares so much about his guys, his players. It upset him.”

I love Scot McCloughan. He’s not a stuffy GM, he’s a bit of a maniac, he loves his players, and nearly broke his hand after hearing about the extent of Doctson’s injury. I’m right there with Cooley, I freaking love Scot too. Every move he makes, every stop he takes. I’m about to punch a wall and break my hand to stand in camaraderie with Scott.

The good news is Doctson worked out today, kinda.

No need to rush him back. Get him heeled before he’s out there running around, please.

PS: Apparently Breeland has been the star of camp so far. Him and Norman are going to be so much fun to watch this year.
