ESPN - It’s not the way Washington Redskins receiver Josh Doctson wanted to start his career. He also isn’t worried that his tweaked Achilles will be a problem. Still, it’s an issue that Doctson has been dealing with since he hurt it in the Redskins’ rookie minicamp in early May. It kept him out of all the spring practices and minicamp and it landed him on the physically unable to perform list. He can be taken off the list at any time, but it’s still uncertain how much longer he’ll be sidelined.

“It’s kind of a lingering issue,” Doctson said, “and we had some things done over the break to help speed up the process. “I’m not really concerned because I know my body, and I’ve never really had lingering problems. I heal fast.”

NFL Camp and preseason is the best of times, and it’s the worst of times. It’s the best because finally, finallyyyyyy we have some real NFL news. The summer is long with just baseball going. We try to make news out of anything, but for the most part, it’s all fluff or filler to get us to camp. And now we are finally here.

It’s the worst though because of injuries. Every year someone gets injured in a non-contact drill and misses the season. Junior Galette torn his Achilles before camp opened, and I’m sure there will be a handful of other injuries that will impact the season. It’s also the worst because preseason seems to drag on for-ev-er. Camp drags on, and then 4 weeks of meaningless preseason games that you try to get excited for but are just a cocktease for the real thing.

So the Skins kicked off their camp today and while no new injuries have been reported, first round pick, WR Josh Doctson has been placed on the PUP list. Everyone has been hoping to see him in action, as he can step in right away and use his speed and 6’2 size and immediately help the Redskins offense. With DeSean, Garcon, and Crowder at WR, as well as Jordan Reed at TE, the Skins offense would be even more explosive with Doctson. It’s not the best sign that his injury has lingered since May, so hopefully he takes he needs to fully heal it. I’m excited to see him in action, but would prefer to miss a bit of the early days of camp to make sure that thing is fully healed. Don’t need him on the field at 70% now, need him on the field at 100% in September.
