Melania Trump Speechgate Continues To Dominate Headlines In Vintage Trump Fashion Today
Good news is Melania’s speech got more publicity than any in the history of politics especially if you believe that all press is good press!

That’s just true. That’s a true tweet. Melania Trump on Monday night was faced with what every presidential nominee’s spouse gets faced with — giving a primetime speech to millions of people. That speech is damn near always run of the mill, it’s talked about for a few hours, then it’s over. Onto the bigger, better, more important inner-party business.
But not this one. Not Melania. Not the Trumps. It’s 2 days later and here we are — for better or for worse — Melania Trump’s name and her speech is DOMINATING the news cycle.
This morning, Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort went on CNN and hilariously refused to acknowledge any existence of plagiarism. Like when your girl is holding your phone, literally showing you your own sketchy texts and you’re just like, “what texts?”

Around noon, the Donald unleashed this phenomenal “boom roasted” tweet.
The media is spending more time doing a forensic analysis of Melania’s speech than the FBI spent on Hillary’s emails.

And now this afternoon, a Trump staffer released this statement taking blame for the “mistake,” exonerating Melania and somehow, someway, I think making the Trumps appear compassionate?

The Trumps are the Kardashians of politics right now and there’s just no way to deny it. No matter what happens, no matter how deeply it would wound any other family or presidential candidate, they spin it into something that just works. Is it good? Is it passable? Is it garnering votes? I don’t know — but it’s working. He’s still here. He’s one of two left. His wife just gave the sitting First Lady’s 2008 convention address word-for-word and he still remains here. Still remains one of two left. Still continues to rattle off unbelievably good hot take tweets.
It’s 2016. It’s Trump’s world. We’re just lucky to be blogging in it.
