Former Minnesota High School Hockey Star Andrew Kerr Needs Our Help After Suffering A Serious Spinal Injury

Before we get started here, let me just say something. I realize that we throw a ton of GoFundMe pages your way and I get that not everybody can always donate to everything. However, different stories connect with different people in different ways. So this isn’t a plea for everybody to donate to Andrew Kerr and his family. But if this story connects with just one of you guys out there, well then it’s worth posting IMO. Anyway, let’s get into it real quick.

Andrew Kerr is a former high school hockey player at Duluth East. He helped lead his team to the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament 3 times while he was there. The same state tournament that brings us the All Hockey Hair Team year after year. Since Duluth East, he moved on to the USHL to play for the Dubuque Fighting Saints for the past two seasons. But this weekend, shit took a bad turn and now it looks like his life will be altered forever.

I don’t know too many of the details but this is how his friend who passed the story over to me described it. The boys were all out at a lake house over the weekend. They had a water trampoline set up and it was just typical dude shit. Unfortunately, something went wrong and after about 5-10 minutes, they all realized that they didn’t know where Andrew was. Turns out he was still under water. So they rushed to help him, gave him CPR and he was sent to the hospital. First off, A+ response by the friends here. They definitely saved Andrew’s life. They say he didn’t suffer any brain damage but they’re still waiting to see if he’ll be paralyzed or not. Again, this seems like something that could happen to any one of us. It’s summer. It’s the weekend. If you have any sort of a life and you have friends, chances are you’re doing some dangerous shit. Some of it is casual, some of it is ill-advised, but at any given moment, something could go wrong and that’s a shitty realization of life. It sucks that this had to happen to Andrew but from everything I’ve heard about the kid, he’ll pull through this in one way or another. And that’s where the Stoolies come in.

The Kerr Family’s GoFundMe page has been set up to help them take care of the medical bills during this uneasy time. Their goal is to raise $100,000 and they’ve already raised $55,000 in just over a day. That speaks volumes to the type of kid Andrew is. So it could be $1, it could be $20, it could be a hundred. It could be nothing at all besides a share on social media to pass it along to others. If there’s one thing the Stoolies are truly good for, it’s coming together and lending a huge helping hand in situations like this.
