Henrik Stenson Wins The British Open With One Of The Greatest Sunday Rounds In Golf History

This isn’t a full recap. Riggs will have that later on in the week. This is just a quick shout out to one of the best rounds of golf I’ve ever seen. What a ridiculous round we just watched. What an unreal battle between Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickelson. If you had told Phil at the beginning of the day that he was gonna shoot a bogey-free 65, there would’ve been no doubt in his mind that he was gonna be holding his second Claret Jug. But that didn’t happen because Henrik Stenson shot a fucking 63 in the final round to capture the Claret Jug and his first major. He’s also the first Swedish player to win a major championship in golf. He sank 10 birdies! 10! Phil and Henrik exchanged haymaker after haymaker after haymaker. It was so much fun that I wasn’t even sure who I was rooting for most of the day. I was actually rooting for these guys to keep playing forever and ever until we all just died. It was that awesome. I’m not sure we’ll ever see a round of golf like that again in our lifetimes. Drink it in.

The highlight was Stenson walking in this 50-foot birdie putt on 15 to go up two strokes . Crazy.

But the real MVP of the day, and maybe the entire tournament, was Beef Johnston. The non-American People’s Golfer. Coming out of relative obscurity and capturing everyone’s hearts. What a treasure this guy is. Especially this moment on the 18th where his caddy is about to light up a heater
