TV Reporter Didn't Want To Ruin Her Expensive Shoes During A Flood So Some Locals Carried Her
WT- A Mexican TV reporter is out of a job after a photo surfaced on social media showing locals carrying her down a flooded street. TV Azteca reporter Lydia Cumming, 24, was covering the devastating flooding in Puebla when two residents offered to carry her, mic in hand, to her next interview so she wouldn’t get her shoes wet, the Kansas City Star reported Wednesday. Ms. Cumming later said she didn’t have the proper clothing with her on the assignment. “I try to maintain a good relationship with people and I was afraid I would sound rude if I turned down the favor,” she told the newspaper El Pais. “They carried me two seconds and after I asked them to put me down.” But a photojournalist on the scene took a picture of her being carried and posted it on her personal Facebook page. The photo quickly went viral and spurred countless memes with the hashtag #LadyReportera.
That reporter isn’t wrong. She had to accept when they offered to help her. It’s super rude to turn down somebody who is offering to do you a favor. Not to mention it’s a hassle to decline. You decline, they insist, you decline again but harder, they insist again but harder and round and round you go. It’s easier just to accept the kind gesture and let the locals carry you around flood waters so you don’t ruin your expensive shoes. Also we’ve all bought new shoes so we all know what it’s like to want to keep them as clean as possible for as long as possible. No shame in that. I will say this, it makes for a HILARIOUS picture though. She could not look like a bigger asshole in that picture. It’s not possible. Just a privileged TV reporter being carried on the backs of the working class cause she didn’t wanna get her fancy smancy shoes dirty. That’s good stuff.
Party hard bro
