Giancarlo Stanton Hit Four Home Runs In Four Consecutive At-Bats

BDS

We’ve already established that Big Dick Stanton is back, but now he’s just flat out bullying people. BDS hit two home runs last night, and two more today off of Jacob deGrom. Between the four home runs, you’re talking about at least six thousand feet worth of dingers. Four consecutive at-bats with a home run has been done before — Adrian Gonzalez did it last year — but nobody has ever hit a home run in five consecutive at-bats. Stanton struck out in the ninth inning of today’s loss to the Mets to end the homer streak, but it’s all good because the Stanton Smash Tour continues to roll on throughout the country. BDS has been red hot for a decent stretch now, hitting .324 with a .981 OPS over his last 17 games coming into today. He’s averaging a home run every 10.1 at-bats since June 17, and he’s driven in a little more than a run per game over that stretch. It appears as though the demise of Big Dick Stanton has been greatly exaggerated.
