David West Is Still Chasing That Ring, Reportedly Agreed to Accept The Veteran's Minimum With The Warriors

ewes
ESPN- Power forward David West has agreed to a one-year contract for the veterans minimum with the Golden State Warriors, according to multiple reports. The agreement was first reported by NBA.com. The Warriors, who have a commitment from Kevin Durant to sign with the team, will lose Harrison Barnes after rescinding their rights to the forward, who plans to sign with the Dallas Mavericks.

West, a 13-year veteran, opted out of a $12.6 million deal with the Indiana Pacers last summer to join the San Antonio Spurs for a veteran-minimum contract worth approximately $1.5 million.

Gotta say that I love this move. Not because I think David West is still a good player and will help the Warriors on their quest to never lose another game. That’s for the people that embrace advanced NBA statistics to figure out. I love it because we officially have a human victory cigar for the NBA free agency period. Like back in the day when the Knicks knew they had locked up the game, the entire MSG crowd would chant for Herb Williams until he came in. And once he did, people went wild. Well now we can signal who won the NBA offseason based on where David West signs for the veteran’s minimum to chase a ring. Once David West signs with a team, Vegas should officially place them atop the championship odds board before the Summer League can officially kick off. West is the closest thing we have to Drake’s allegiance except as an athlete that has to stay under contract. Absolutely no shame in David West’s game. If you are going to own a corner, it might as well be a corner that could end in a champagne shower. I’m pretty sure Confucius said that.

I also love that West puts more people into a mental pickle for wanting to win a ring. Because the first thing that was bad was to take the most money instead of trying to win a championship. Then leaving your team to sign with a better team for a discount was bad. And now the hate will pour out for David West for basically being the guy that always did wraparound goals against the computer in NHL 94 to win a virtual Stanley Cup instead of making millions and millions of dollars on a shittier team doing it “the right way”. It’s no different than the assholes that will be playing with the Warriors against other people online in NBA2K this year. And trust me there will be a ton of them.

However, the only thing bad about this is if the Warriors don’t win the championship, The Curse Of David West will immediately be born. Because the only thing the internet loves more than being angry at a player for going to a good team is to fake curse someone.
