Even NHL 2017 Thinks Peter Chiarelli Is A Terrible GM
Had this tweeted at me last night and it is absolutely one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a while. Twitter GMs chirping and saying you’re a moron is one thing, a video game definitively saying it is a whole ‘nother. I mean this machine didn’t even give you a “we’ll think about it” or “you just need to sweeten the pot a little,” it was downright offended by the idea of a move that a real life, professional general manager pulled off. The Xbox considered giving the red ring of death then having that scary chick crawl out of the TV and kill him for even proposing such an insulting idea, yet Peter Chiarelli simply replied, “You’ve got yourself a deal!”
The best part is that Edmonton is the one that rejected it in the video game too, so theoretically it was computer Chiarelli that said no. NHL is a great game but apparently they’ve got wildly inaccurate attributes for Chia. Need to drop those “asset management” and “having a fucking brain” levels down to single digits.
I’m sure it was probably just a glitch, though. It’s not like Taylor Hall is only 24 years old, arguably the best left winger in the NHL, and has been one of the best 5v5 players in the league for the last four (tweet says two but he later corrected himself) years.
Why wouldn’t it be fair to offer a straight-up trade for a defenseman who just completed his first full NHL season because he kept getting sent back to the AHL in each of last three.
PS – If you’re wondering what made the XBox actually accept the deal it was Hall for Larsson, Cory Schneider, and a 2017 first rounder. Similar deal, imo.
