Derek Jeter Interviewed Barack Obama And It Was Incredibly Boring

The Players Tribune has been hyping this interview for a couple of weeks now and words can’t express how disappointed I am. Politics aside, Barack Obama is the most charismatic president who never got caught putting his dick in an intern, so whenever he does a non political interview I get excited. I mean if you saw him on Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, your hopes had to be through the roof that teaming up with Jeter would be gold and instead it’s like watching paint dry.

I never criticize the man, but I blame Jeter for this. The guy who delivered clutch hit after clutch hit during his playing career had the chance to really establish himself as a part of the media, and he basically struck out looking. I mean he looked like A-Rod with the game on the line in the playoffs here.

The problem with this interview set up is that Jeter has always been reserved in answering questions, because he had a career to worry about. When he retired, we hoped he would let loose, but for some reason he’s looking at The Players Tribune as a new career rather than just a project and is still giving us these cookie cutter bullshit answers. Barack on the other hand DOES NOT GIVE A FUCK. He’s doing whatever media he feels like and even dropped a mic at the end of the White House Correspondents dinner because no matter what, he’s going to get his post presidential speaking gigs. Republicans can’t do anything to turn him anymore so he’s a loose cannon of jokes and Jeter didn’t take advantage.

I think The Players Tribune is cool at times, even though it’s clearly not just the players writing stuff, but this shows what Jeter’s real role needs to be. Jeter should be nothing more than a bankroll and a rolodex unless he’s going to tell his own stories, which he never will.
