Wake Up With Wil Myers Taking Julio Teheran Deep Twice
Yesterday, I was writing about Snoop Dogg and how awful his ceremonial first pitch before the Padres game was. It got me thinking about how I only write about the Padres when something bad happens (because they suck), but then I saw that Padres first baseman Wil Myers took Julio Teheran deep twice in San Diego yesterday, and I had to throw them a bone here. I mean, they still lost, and Myers’ two homers represented the only two runs they scored all day, but Myers is having an All Star-worthy season, and so is the pitcher that he homered off of twice.
After the two-homer day, Myers is third among National League first baseman in extra-base hits (25), trailing only Anthony Rizzo (26), and Chris Carter (29). For being on a team that doesn’t score a ton of runs, Myers has scored more runs than any other NL first baseman (38), and has 10 more hits (69) than the next best first baseman in the league (Brandon Belt, 59).
