Ummmm dude you lost. It’s over. Time to go home. You can’t lose the AFC Championship then show up at the Super Bowl. That’s bananas. You’re not helping the crazy old man image. At this rate I’m a little worried Bernie’s gonna show up at Inauguration and fall right off the Capitol balcony. Dead. I can see it now, “Bernie makes final push for free funerals for everyone.”
In a lot of ways this embodies everything Bernie and Bernie supporters stand for. Just refusing to accept reality and how things work. Think that because they exist and have a “voice” they’re entitled to whatever they want. Oh I exist, someone pay for me to go to college. Oh I voiced my political views, someone make me president. Oh I tweeted my feelings, someone come shovel my sidewalk.
Sorry Bern man, this ain’t how it works. Was the nomination rigged against you? Yes. Was there any chance Slick Willy and the DNC were gonna let you win? Nope. But as Odysseus says to Achilles, “Sometimes a good leader must know when to follow.”
(I could hit you also with Quintus saying to Maximus, “People should know when they’re conquered.” Works nicely here.)
You’ve been conquered. Your crazy ideas and crazy hair were fascinating. You mobilized the generally unmobilizable Occupy Everything crowd. But it’s time to take your place in line and make room for the Main Event the blog life was made for.
