After dropping the first two games of the series to the Texas Rangers, the Cleveland Indians were able to salvage the three-game set with a walk-off victory in 11 innings on Wednesday. Yan Gomes entered the game in the top of the ninth as a defensive replacement, and delivered the game-winning hit off of Rangers reliever, Alexander Claudio. It was the first walk-off victory of the season for the Tribe, but they were unable to gain any ground on the White Sox, who won in 13 innings in New York, or the Royals, who won their sixth straight to sweep their home stand.
Despite leading the AL Central in runs scored (243), the Indians still sit 2.5 games back of the surging Royals, and a half-game back of the White Sox. The good news is that Carlos Carrasco returns to the mound for Cleveland for the first time since April 24. And not only that, but the Indians have the Royals coming to town for four games starting tonight, and they will see Carrasco in game one, Danny Salazar in game two, and Corey Kluber in game four.
