Out of all the officials in sports, NHL referees are without a doubt the realest guys in the room. Have no problem telling players how to keep themselves out of trouble while also constantly getting between guys throwing punches and chirping back at guys on the ice. But at the same time they are trying to make the game the best they can and as little about themselves as possible. And that’s really what you want out of an official, to let the players battle it out themselves. Everyone can name a bunch of NFL refs, NBA refs…but NHL refs despite being in the middle of the action, you probably can’t name more than a few. And that’s the way it should be. Out there working their dicks off, being all Canadian n shit, and doing their best to keep the action going.
