Kevin Ding - The coast-to-coast debate over the merits of Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram expected to take place over the next five weeks might be a moot point. The Philadelphia 76ers are leaning heavily toward taking Simmons on June 23, according to league sources, with the No. 1 overall pick they landed in the NBA draft lottery Tuesday night. That would set the Los Angeles Lakers up at No. 2 with Ingram, who already wowed them in his May 11 interview on opening day of the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago. Ingram’s drive to be great and dedication to winning, according to sources, resonated deeply with the Lakers’ front-office contingent. The 76ers will further investigate Ingram, but they have great confidence in the upside of Simmons, whose ambidextrous athletic ability at 6’10” and 240 pounds comes with innate basketball instincts.
Uh….duh. Nothing against Ingram at all. He’s a fine player who will do well in the sunshine of LA. But Ben Simmons is
borderline 7 foot so of course the Sixers will take him the obvious number one pick here. However, it is just after the balls have dropped. Lest we remember this time last year Okafor was considered by many to go #1 overall until Karl-Anthony Towns became the consensus. Same two years ago with Embiid over Wiggins before Jo-Jo shattered his shit before the draft. So things can obviously change. But consider this Aussie bastard a Sixer for the time being. Shit, Brett Browns days coaching in Australia all but confirms he knows everything he needs to know about the kid and is most likely all-in. Now all that’s left is to A) Develop a high school varsity level jump shot and B) Win 8+ championships. Is that too much to ask? Cue it the fuck up, por favor.
