There hasn’t been much going on with the Hogan vs Gawker trial this week. Been pretty boring for the most part, with lots of talk about page views and advertising revenue and the like. The Hogan side says Gawker profited around 15 million dollars from posting the tape, the Gawker side said they didn’t profit at all. Things like that, nothing too exciting.
But today things ramped up a bit again when the woman in the tape, Mrs. Bubba the Love Sponge, was brought to the stand. Any time cuckolding is the topic of a 100 million dollar lawsuit, things get pretty awesome. And today we learned Todd Clem (radio’s Bubba the Love Sponge’s real name) was wayyyyyyy into it. Way, way into it. Mrs. Clem seemed a bit embarrassed by her past, or maybe just the fact her personal life is now all out in the open like this.
But don’t get it twisted, it’s not like she was against it at the time.
Just so we have it on the record right here, I am not ok with my future wife fucking someone else, on or off camera. Thank you for your time.
But let’s continue. The last interesting thing of note is this litttttle tidbit right here:
And that my friends, is why you post a sex tape. 5.4 million uniques on one blog is crazy high, especially considering it was in 2012. I would be surprised if Gawker was getting 5.4 million uniques a month, nevermind on one post, at that time. Just goes to show there’s no such thing as bad publicity. What up, Ben Brady?!
Hopefully this trial wraps up soon. I want Hogan to get paid, but I don’t want a precedent set for what us bloggers can or cannot post. I’ll just shy away from secretly filmed sex tapes.
PS: I meant to add the Jezebel editor-in-chief took the stand again and she is the WORST. WORST WORST WORST. Hypocritical as the day is long. Obviously she can’t be like “yeah, we fucked up, we shouldn’t have done that”, but it’s so funny watching the editor in chief of Jezebel defend her decision to put this tape up.
