Kmarko's NBA DraftKings Picks - February 3

kmarkoNBA

Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy basketball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the week before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for this weekend, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.

Another night below 300, but not the end of the world.

Got about 112 points combined from the blog picks of Harden, Towns and Dieng. Towns and Dieng were both super high owned, but that was to be expected on a 5 game slate, and it turns out the smart tournament move was pivoting off Towns for someone like Greg Monroe.

Also I’ve been getting a lot of tweets lately from people saying they’ve won a shitload of money with my picks, and not very many at all of people telling me to kill myself. I guess it’s kind of nice in theory, but I feel kind of weird about it. I don’t like change.

Huge slate tonight, which is exciting, but traditionally I do worse on these nights than the ones with only 5 or 6 games.

Three plays from the three tiers, let’s do it.

PG Steph Curry $10.7K

Steph has been “slumping” a little bit lately, which means he’s putting up 40’s instead of 70s for the past week. I think tonight’s matchup with the Wizards in a game with a crazy high total is just the medicine he needs to get back to 60+. He’s cheaper than Boogie and Russ with just as much upside if he can get his shot going early.

C Myles Turner $6.3K

The price is finally starting to come up on Myles, which I’m hoping will sway some people off him. But not getting my hopes up too much, because he’s still far too cheap for how good he’s been lately, and with Mahinmi out again, he’ll be dominating the front court against the soft ass Nets. Not exactly a contrarian play here but he’s by far my favorite play at the position when you consider price and I’m more than happy to lock him in and spend up elsewhere.

VALUE PLAY SF Michael Kidd-Gilchrist $4.5K

I’ve played MKG in both games he’s played since he came back from injury, and it paid off nicely for me. Dropped a cool 45 his last time out…in his second game of the season! Kemba is out tonight, which in theory opens up a ton of minutes for Jeremy Lin. But the rotation has been super weird, and Lin, Roberts and Daniels are all doing some kind of weird time sharing thing at the 1. So I kind of like MKG as the guy to step up and take over a little bit here, especially with Batum a little banged up. I mean at 4.5K, it’s not like we’re risking a lot on a guy with a 25 point floor and 50 point upside here.

Other options…

PG: It’s a toss up between Russ and Steph for top PG of the night…CP3 is always in play with Blake Griffin out…I like Jeff Teague in the mid range, looks like they’re trying to get his trade value up lately…like I said, Jeremy Lin is good in theory, but watch out for the minutes. JJ Barea could be in play with Deron and Devin out.

SG: SG is becoming the new PF, where it’s a disaster on a nightly basis. Paying up for Jimmy Butler might make sense, but I think I might tag team Klay with Steph and look for one of their classic shooting clinics. If we’re going cheaper, I like Rodney Hood and Oladipo a lot, as well as Evan Turner as a value play.

SF: If Boogie is out, Gay becomes my top SF play of the night. Durant and Lebron are both in great spots, as they usually are. If you want to go cheaper, Robert Covington and Aaron Gordon are two guys I’ll have tons of exposure to.

PF: I’ll probably be off Cousins tonight even if he goes, and Davis hasn’t been reliable this year. I think I’ll be happy rolling with Kevin Love again, or maybe splurging a little on Draymond. Or just going with the chalk value play of Jordan Hill again.

C: A good tournament move might be skipping Turner and paying up for Vucevic or Brook Lopez, or going even cheaper with Gorgui Dieng. Zig when everyone else is zagging.

That’s it for me, good luck tonight. Tweet me @kmarkobarstool with your picks or to talk shit, whatever. Also if you’re depositing to play make sure to use my referral and we’ll both get hooked up with some stuff.

Also got a pretty sweet tool for everyone to check out. RotoGrinders is the main site I’ve been using for the past year for matchup charts and expert analysis (real experts, not bloggers doing this in their free time), and they have an app now that pushes all NBA injury news directly to your phone the second it hits the wire. So if you’re like me and keep getting screwed by last minute scratches because you didn’t check Twitter in time, or if you want to get a leg up in tournaments by grabbing late breaking value plays, I highly recommend it.

Oh, and it’s free.
