NBC SportsWith Winter Storm Jonas burying the east coast in snow, Duquesne figured they would try to get home from a road game on Friday night before the worst of the storm hit.

The Dukes played at George Mason in an Atlantic 10 conference game on Friday afternoon (instead of Saturday) to try to avoid the storm, but the Dukes got stuck on the Pennsylvania Turnpike on the way home and spent Friday night stuck around 80 miles outside of Pittsburgh. Duquesne’s bus was stuck at around 9:15 p.m. EST and remained gridlocked among other snowed-in vehicles on the PA Turnpike.

Nothing but respect for the Duquesne hoops team. Bottom line is you’re not a real man unless you completely disregard all weather warnings before an impending storm. Load up on food and booze just in case, but if you let a couple of clown weathermen dictate your travel plans, might as well turn your balls in. If you get stuck overnight in the middle of the Pennsylvania Turnpike so be it.

Plus let’s not cry for these guys.

During the overnight wait, Duquesne’s bus thankfully had power and heat and was stocked with water and some leftover pizza, Duquesne head coach Jim Ferry told ESPN.com’s Andy Katz.

Heat, water, pizza, and their Twitter accounts. Nice little viral story and their coach getting interviewed all over the place and the top story on ESPN. Not a bad deal. Yesterday you had never even heard of the Duquesne basketball team, now you’ll be thinking about them for at least the next 4 minutes.
