Kmarko's DraftKings Picks - January 22
Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy basketball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the week before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for this weekend, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.
Not a bad night.
Built all my lineups around Cousins, Lebron and Boban and it paid off nicely, with almost all of them cashing. Spags was actually all over Boban even before some of the starters were ruled out so shout out to him for that play – I won’t say it out loud, but I think he sneaky might be better at this stuff than me?
Huge monster slate tonight, let’s hit up the 3 featured plays from the 3 price tiers then brainstorm some other potential plays.
PG Steph Curry $10.4K
Gun to head who is the best, highest upside tournament play tonight, gotta roll with Steph. As much as I love Westbrook and picture him when I think of the word “upside,” Steph has actually been dropping higher point totals on a more consistent basis. Got to love the matchup and the late start time – nothing like a late night game with Steph going nuts in front of the home crowd. Harden and Durant might end up being better values, but if you’re looking to spend the big bucks, the guy I’d feel safest with is definitely Steph Curry with the shot, cookin’ with the sauce, chef, curry with the pot, boy.
PF Chris Bosh $7.6K
Revenge game! I wonder if Bosh remembers how good he used to be when he played in Toronto? Before Lebron and DWade made him third-fiddle and stand around the 3 point line hoping for scraps? Might have even extra motivation than normal if so. And, pretty much the entire Heat roster is hurt tonight. Not even joking, they have I think 7 healthy bodies. Lots of value plays to jump on, but I think it would be dumb to overlook Bosh in this spot, with a usage rate that should be through the roof for only 7.6K.
VALUE PLAY C Frank Kaminsky $4.8K
Big Frank! Never thought I’d see the day that Frank was getting his own featured spot on my NBA DraftKings picks, yet here we are. Lots of injuries tonight and a ton of value plays so I pretty much drew out of a hat here. Jefferson is permanently hurt and Zeller is out, which opens up the frontcourt for Kaminsky. He’s been putting up solid 25-32 point games for the past week, and I think tonight is a good spot to take a shot and hope for 35+.
Other plays to consider…
PG: Ton of great PG options tonight. I’d pay up for Westbrook or Steph easily, either one should have no problem breaking 60 points. I like CP3 once again, especially in MSG, and priced below those 2 other guys. For value, I’ve been riding Donald Sloan a lot, and Jeremy Lin should be in a good spot with Batum and Lamb injured.
SG: Gotta love Harden and Butler, but the best bang for your buck here might be Khris Middleton. DeRozan is usually more of a cash than a GPP play but he’s been putting up big numbers lately, and in the value range, I’m still sticking by Tyler Johnson and all the run he’s getting.
SF: Can’t go wrong with Durant, and if Favors is out, Gordon Hayward should go wild on offense again. Giannis is always a high upside tourney play, and if Dirk is out, Parsons instantly gets vaulted up to the top of the rankings. I like Justise Winslow as a value play with the whole Heat team out and him basically guaranteed 40 minutes.
PF: As usual, PF is a trainwreck outside of the 1 or 2 plays I like. I can’t really see spending up on anyone. Terrence Jones makes a great value play with Dwight out, but he should be very popular. Villanueva is appealing also if Dirk is ruled out, and Marvin Williams is always an underrated source of points especially with Zeller out.
C: Pau is coming off a dud but is always a safe bet to be one of the top scoring centers – I love Rudy Gobert’s upside, and Greg Monroe is a solid safe play. If you love living on the edge, Kelly Olynyk and Jared Sullinger are two guys who are both in good spots, but you can never feel comfortable with their minutes. Also…Mahinmi is out again, so fire up Myles Turner.
…
That’s it for me, good luck tonight. Tweet me @kmarkobarstool with your picks or to talk shit, whatever. Also if you’re depositing to play make sure to use my referral and we’ll both get hooked up with some stuff.
