If There Was Anyone Left In Chicago That Thought The Bulls Had An Outside Title Shot, Last Night Should Have Ended Those Dreams

I’ve said this multiple times throughout this season. Yes Fred Hoiberg deserves time and yes the Bulls are maddeningly inconsistent and rise to the occasion for big wins, but at the end of the day this roster and group of guys are not winning a Title. Actually scratch that, there is barely a chance (Lebron could theoretically get injured) of reaching a title. Jimmy is great, Derrick shows flashes (his first quarter last night was awesome then Fred sat him as he was getting hot, genius!), Pau can do things but he’s old and complains and is going to walk for nothing at the end of the year, Niko has turned into a human garbage can, Tony Snell is always somewhere between lukewarm and cold, Taj is Taj and has never progressed from solid rotational/energy guy, and the rest are just guys and the optimism of Bobby Portis. That’s not a winning team. It’s a “better than most of the East” team, but it’s not a winning team. The Warriors didn’t even play all that well last night. Jimmy Butler and Derrick Rose were the first back court to out score Klay and Steph all season long and we still lost by THIRTY ONE! It was like the teams were playing two different sports. Even a run by the Bulls needed Draymond to go to the bench with an injury. Fuck in the first quarter the Warriors were beating the Bulls 1 on 5 with half their team tying their shoes. Look at this shit.

I’m not saying I’m quitting on the Bulls, I’ll still watch every game, I’ll still get way too excited when they beat the Cavs in Game 1 of whatever playoff round they meet, but the point remains, nothing is going to happen. Jo is already walking for nothing because of his injury so if the front office doesn’t trade Pau for anything, what the hell are we even doing here? Either you’re competing for a title or you’re in the lottery, Jimmy is far too good to ever let his team be in the lottery so we’re basically establishing that the Bulls are in the dreaded no man’s land of the NBA. So if that’s the case why not try to get maximum value out of your roster via trades. Does Niko have any value on the market? Would a team want Dunleavy when he comes back and plays a few games? Pau has to have a destination on a semi-contender. Just do anything, because right now I’m telling you how the rest of the season will go. Jimmy will continue to dominate, Derrick will get injured 1 or 2 more times, the Bulls will rattle off a 9 out of 10 win streak sucking everyone back in at some point, Pau will have a few games where he scores 30 and everyone says “whoa, how about Pau?”, they’ll end up with 50 wins and the 4 seed and then the Bulls will lose in 6 to Cleveland in the second round. Rinse Repeat. No thanks.

PS

I like Aaron Brooks energy, he’s a good guy to run the second team when you’re not playing the elite teams. When you are playing the elite teams? Jesus Christ.
