And The Hits Keep On Coming: Eagles Expected To Hire Backup QB Legend Frank Reich As OC

BGN – The Eagles’ interest in Reich was first reported by the Daily News. The 54-year-old Reich was fired by the San Diego Chargers in January after spending two seasons as the team’s offensive coordinator. The Chargers’ offense ranked 13th in yards and ninth in points in 2014 but then dropped to 21st and 20th in 2015. Note that Reich only has two years of play-calling experience. Pederson does not have extensive play-calling experience. Like Pederson, Reich has experience as a quarterback in the NFL. He played for four teams from 1985 through 1998. After his playing career was over, Reich got his NFL coaching career started with the Indianapolis Colts. Here’s a general overview of his experience:

Indianapolis Colts (2008) – (Offensive coaching staff assistant)
Indianapolis Colts (2009–2010) – (Quarterbacks coach)
Indianapolis Colts (2011) – (Wide receivers coach)
Arizona Cardinals (2012) – (Wide receivers coach)
San Diego Chargers (2013) – (Quarterbacks coach)
San Diego Chargers (2014–2015) – (Offensive coordinator)

Hey – were you an average or backup player in the NFL that has had no real proven success in the coaching ranks? Come join the Eagles! This team will give shots to the likes of Doug Pederson, Tim Hauck, and now Frank Reich – No questions asked! We’ll let that “experience” of not being good enough at anything flourish in our culture of mediocrity.

Super. It’s refreshing to see Doug Pederson will be surrounding himself with only the best and brightest average minds in the game. Now we can let Sam Bradford walk to a team that will actually give him a chance to be a beast, reach in the draft for a QB to “develop” into a below average bust, and allow him to dink, dunk, and shit himself with the West Coast Offense every week till they’re all ridden out of town. Sure, Reich had some success with Rivers in SD, but that’s a fucking real good gunslinger he had out there. Let’s see how this guy will do with Butt Fumble or a journeyman QB under center.

One thing’s for damn sure now, if this team wants to actually have the chance at anything they NEED to hire a proven, dick wrecker of a DC…and it ain’t out there. I guess I’m OK with either Jim Schwartz or Mike Petine, but anyone else would be setting this team up for failure. You think Andy Reid would’ve had the “success” he’s had in KC if he didn’t waddle into a team with a Top-5 defense with a billion pro-bowlers? Same goes for his time in Philly. Without Jimmy Johnson doing the damn thing, Big Red Just look at what happened after JJ died and Reid put his freaking offensive line coach in charge of the defense. That’s the kind of decision making and thought process we’re going to be dealing with again. But, fuck it, at least the holiday party will be a banger again this year.

Also, hope you didn’t use up all that Christ voodoo magic in The Comeback game, Frank. You’re gonna need all the help you can get.
