Kmarko's DraftKings Picks - January 14
Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy basketball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the week before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for this weekend, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.
Ok not the best night, yet again.
We got 100+ points from my Boogie and CP3 picks, but Gooden bombed real hard as a value play and the rest of my lineup was kind of weak. I put Derrick Williams in when Melo was confirmed out and he killed it, but Tyreke getting hurt sank me.
Short slate tonight but let’s try to turn it around.
SG Jimmy Butler $8.8K
Jimmy Butler is my top overall play of the night by far. He’s also a GTD so you’re going to want to check up on him veryyy closely before lineups lock. I expect him to play though, while you’d have to imagine D Rose sits this one out, and Pau is already out – leaving Jimmy all the offensive slack to pick up. He played 40 minutes on a bad wheel last game so if he’s good to go expect him to be in there the entire game putting up big time numbers.
SF Gordon Hayward $7.2K
You may have noticed I rarely ever play Gordon Hayward – might have featured him 1 time before, tops. That’s because he’s burned me more times than Kemba…which is a lot. Always seems like he’ll go on a super hot streak, then the night I play him he drops 18. But the fact is he’s got a great matchup at a pretty cheap price, and with Derrick Favors officially out for tonight, he’ll be the main offensive threat on the floor. I probably wouldn’t pay 8K for him, but at 7.2 I think he makes a great pivot away from LeBron and Kawhi in the higher price range.
PS – Do people not call him Gordie? I’ve been calling him that for like 8 years.
VALUE PLAY C Joakim Noah $5.1K
I had two options for value play tonight. The first one is obviously Jo – getting the start for Gasol, seems pretty safe to hit some good value. He’ll also be wildly popular and it’s not like we’re looking at a 50 point ceiling here. Although…he’s playing the Sixers. The other guy was Larry Nance – with Brandon Bass out, he should get 30+ minutes, in a game with plenty of garbage time, and for much lower owned than Noah. The catch is he seems a lot riskier – has a bunch of 16 and 17 fantasy point games mixed into his game log, which ain’t gonna win you much.
Other hit or miss value plays: Bobby Portis if you think he’ll get enough run, or else Mirotic…Chalmers getting the start again (but could be a good fade candidate against DET defense)…Rodney Hood’s price has come up but I like his spot a lot…total gut call, but I feel like Tony Parker and Manu bring their best in matchups like the one they have tonight vs the Cavs.
