Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy basketball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the week before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for this weekend, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.
Well, college football is finally over, the NFL season is wrapping up, which only means one thing – time to focus all my attention on some NBA DraftKings. It’s been an up and down season so far (mostly downs), but I did have a nice little hot streak going to kick off 2016 – built the bank roll up a little bit. Butttt then it came to an abrupt halt on Friday, when the blog picks were all hot garbage and I didn’t cash with any lineup.
But, still time for optimism. Plus, got some great news in New York yesterday:
So let’s jump into it, 8 games on deck, 3 featured plays:
SG Tyreke Evans $8.1K
The Lakers are the Lakers. They’re the worst defense in the league when it comes to fantasy, and targeting guys against them is a surefire way to guarantee yourself some points, even if they’re total bums. Considering Tyreke Evans is the opposite of a bum and can put up crazy stat lines against even top notch defenses, it sure seems like a no brainer to fire him up tonight. He’s been getting 40 minutes a game lately and seems to have a floor around 40 points the way he’s playing – consider the fact that Anthony Davis is banged up and he might have to carry even more offensive load tonight, and you’ve got maybe my favorite play of the slate. And he’s cheaper than Jimmy Butler at the 2.
PG Michael Carter Williams $7.5K
If you’re a frequent player I have a feeling there’s a good chance MCW is on your shit list. You know, the guys that always burn you and you start to hate their guts in real life because they cost you a tournament win. Seems like Carter Williams is always up and down, putting up three 50 point games in a row then hitting you with a 20 pointer when you finally roster him. Take his last game for example – after a 47 and 54 point game, he got in foul trouble, sat the whole fourth quarter and ended up with 21 points (I know, because I had him). The Bucks are always tough to trust with their lineups, but the fact is MCW has been more hot than not, OJ Mayo is out and Bayless is questionable, which means there’s plenty of minutes. Look for a big bounce back here, hopefully low owned because of how many people he has burned lately.
C Karl Anthony-Towns $6.7K
There aren’t a ton of value plays that I’d feel comfortable recommending without waiting until right before tipoff to check up on injury news (like Chalmers and Tony Allen in the Grizzlies game, Stanley Johnson in Detroit). So instead I’ll go with what might as well be a value – Towns coming in at only 6.7K at a position that’s a real bitch to fill. He’s a rookie so he can have off games, but I’ve had him plenty of times this year when he’s dropped a 50 point gem on everybody’s head. Without a ton of other people to trust at the 5 tonight I’m more than happy to roll with KAT.
Other options – I love Westbrook tonight if you have the money to pay up. Also love Melo who has been money lately, and the Jimmy Butler pivot at SG over Tyreke could certainly work out well for you. Louis Williams has been on fire lately, and him and Clarkson are great options especially if Kobe is out again.
Also, like I said, if Conley is out you’re safe to fire up Chalmers again, and if Marcus Morris can’t go Stanley Johnson makes for a nice 25-30 point option. Also if Anthony Davis is out again, Ryan Anderson becomes an obvious play – and Jrue will probably be very popular in that game, but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong to play him.
That’s it for me, good luck tonight. Tweet me @kmarkobarstool with your picks or to talk shit, whatever. Also if you’re depositing to play make sure to use my referral and we’ll both get hooked up with some stuff.
