The Giants Are In Disarray Ending The Myth Once And For All That They Are Rivals of the Patriots

Cry Eli Cry! Cry Eli Cry!
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — After parting ways with Tom Coughlin, owner John Mara says the New York Giants begin their first coaching search in 12 years looking to re-establish the organization’s reputation as an elite franchise. “Let’s be honest, we have lost some credibility as an organization,” Mara said at a news conference with Coughlin, who stepped down as head coach on Monday in what was described by Mara as “mutual.” “When you have three losing years in a row like that, you face a lot of criticism and a lot of it is deserved. And it is up to us now to turn that around and get back to where I think we should be.” Reese believes the Giants are not far from being able to turn things around immediately, citing how injuries to key players to first-round picks like safety Kenny Phillips and defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul have also set the team back. “When you have 20-25 guys on IR, depth is hard to find,” Reese said.
Well this should finally settle the ridicolous question of whether the Giants are our rivals. I know lots of people think they are because both of our Superbowl losses came to them, but I’m firmly on the record as saying they aren’t a rival. It was just pure happenstance that we lost to them twice. We could have just as easily beaten them twice and lost to Seattle and the Rams and still be 4-2 in Superbowls. The bottomline is when you go to as many Superbowls as we do it’s tough to win them all. Sometimes the ball bounces your way like it did vs Seattle and other times it gets stuck on the top of a guy’s helmet. But it’s not like the Giants have a secret sauce. They were just in the right place at the right time vs. us. If we played them 6 times in the Superbowl we’d still be 4-2. But a real rival? Look at em!
Their franchise is in complete and utter disarray. Eli Manning is literally crying as his beloved coach gets fired and gives the owner the cold shoulder. Their GM is blaming everything on injuries and guys hands being blown off in firework accidents. If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times. Injuries are the last refuge of the weak. Nobody has had more injuries than the Patriots and look at us. We’re still going to our 7th Superbowl this year. We haven’t had a losing season around here since dinosaurs still roamed the earth. Meanwhile the last time the Giants had a winning season cell phones weren’t even invented yet. The Giants are no rival. The Patriots have no rivals. There is nobody even close. Teams come and go. They have good seasons and then they fade into bolivian. The only constant for the past 20 years is the Patriots will be there at the end. That’s why in a league designed for parity the Patriots dynasty is by far the most impressive run in the history of the NFL.
PS – Cue the Giants fans saying 18-1 like I’m not aware of that. Make the playoffs more than once every decade.
