Fargo Just Got Renewed For A 3rd Season
Nerdist- Over the past two seasons, FX’s Fargo has quickly become one of the best ever movie-to-TV franchises. Today, the network confirmed that Fargo will return for a third season. Joel and Ethan Coen wrote and directed the Fargo movie in 1996, and it was adapted for television by Noah Hawley. Instead of a direct adaptation, FX’s Fargo has been more of a thematic sequel that actually takes place in the same world as the film. “Year two of Fargo is an extraordinary achievement and, given Noah Hawley’s masterful storytelling, we can’t wait to see where the third, all-new version of Fargo takes us,” said FX Co-President of Original Programing, Eric Schrier in a press release. “Our thanks to Noah, Warren, Joel & Ethan, John and our partners at MGM Television for making Fargo such a memorable and rewarding journey.” The first season of Fargo took place in 2006, and featured Billy Bob Thornton, Martin Freeman, Allison Tolman, and Colin Hanks in leading roles. Season two has shifted its focus to Lou Solverson (Patrick Wilson), the father of Tolman’s character, and Molly Solverson from the first season. The current storyline is unfolding in 1979 as Lou finds himself in the middle of a war between the Kansas City mafia and the Gerhardt crime family, with a hapless married couple, Peggy (Kirsten Dunst) and Ed Blumquist (Jesse Plemons) caught in the crossfire. Hawley hinted at the storyline for season two during the first season of Fargo, so it’s possible that he could once again leave clues for the third season in the remaining four episodes of the current season.
Best news of the day. Fargo just got renewed for a 3rd season. I hope this show runs for 100 years. If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times, Fargo is the best show on TV and it’s not even close. Season 1 was fantastic. I liked it more than I liked True Detective season 1. You never know how good a show ripped from a movie is gonna be but it was shockingly great. Story was great, setting was great, acting was great, everything. And you know what they did next? Creator Noah Halwey went and made an even better Season 2 which seemed impossible. Not even a glimmer of sophomore slump. Bigger story, more characters and undeniably better despite Season 1 being great. Season 2 hasn’t finished yet but it’s already up there with the greatest TV seasons of all time IMO. It’s getting to the point where I feel bad for people who aren’t watching it. Nowadays we’re bombarded with so many shows and services. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, HBO Go. The list of services putting out new show after new show goes on and on. Almost to the point where it’s all just white noise. The one thing that stands out right now? Fargo on FX. Start watching it now. Start season 1 or Season 2 right now. It’s an anthology series so you don’t have to watch them in order. New episode tonight. Fargo makes Mondays not feel like Mondays and that’s the greatest gift of all.
