Quick Update In The World Of Hockey Fights

goon-fight

It’s Monday. The Philadelphia Sixers are winless. The Philadelphia Flyers are a steaming pile of trash. The Phillies, though maybe finally headed in the right direction, are still the worst team in baseball. The Eagles can go burn in hell for that loss yesterday. The life of a Philadelphia sports fan is completely miserable right now and it’s been nothing but sadness and misery for at least the past 2 years now. So all I really want to see today is some dudes beating the shit out of each other’s faces. So I guess you can consider this a Hockey Fight Roundup for the week or whatever. Or if you’re anything like me and the rest of Philadelphia right now, you can consider it therapy.

The Jets Aren’t Happy About Losing 7-0, Or They Just Hate Nashville’s Yellow Helmets

preds-penalty-box

When the whole squad tries to fit into an UberX.

Probably the best scene from hockey this past weekend as both penalty boxes filled up in the Nashville vs Winnipeg game. Always gotta love when a team is getting blown out of the water so they start to just throw fists any chance they can get. Flyers did it vs Washington a few years ago, Winnipeg did it Saturday night. I’m a firm believer in “if you can’t beat ‘em, then beat ‘em up”.

Finland Is Now Suspending Players For Staged Fights. Pussies…

Here we have a fight between Ässät’s Josh Gratton and IFK’s Matt Generous in  Finland’s SM-liiga. Gratton actually played 22 games for the Flyers before and in his 2nd season with Ässät, this is the longest he has ever played for one team consecutively. Anyway, he and former AHL-er Matt Generous decided to put on a show for the crowd and center ice and drop the gloves early in the 1st period. Finland, however, must hate the shit out of entertainment because via Puck Daddy, both Gratton and Generous were suspended 2-games for the fight.

As per league rule 141-i both players receive a two game suspension as it was their first fight of the season. The reason why they were suspended was because the disciplinary board felt that the fight and how it transpired didn’t fit in with the normal flow of the game/current gameplay situation.

Both of the OHL’s Guelph Storm goalies are suspended for fighting… each other

This one comes to us via BarDown. In a game vs the Windspor Spitfires last week, Storm goalie Justin Nichols and Windsor goaltender Michael Giugovaz decided to go toe-to-toe. Both goalies were suspended 5-games for the fight. Guigovaz was then traded to Guelph to serve as a back up to Nichols until Nichols gets traded to a contender in the OHL. Sooooo yeah, Giugovaz has his ass beat by Justin Nichols and now he has to serve as Nichols’ backup. I’m sure that locker room is just a blast to be in right now.

Flyers Prospect Sam Morin Got In His First Fight Of His Professional Career

Not necessarily a great fight but at 6’7″, Sam Morin is going to turn into an absolute animal in a few years. He’s pretty much a stick right now but keep feeding this kid some cheesesteaks so he puts more weight on that frame of his and he’ll be the shutdown type of defenseman the Flyers have been lacking since Chris Pronger went down.

Reminder That The LNAH Is The Greatest Hockey Fighting League In The World

Fight first, worry about actually learning how to skate 2nd. That’s what the LNAH does.

Oldie But A Goodie

This is from last year but as far as staged fights are concerned, this is one of the best ever.
