Ovi Enters The All Star Break By Shattering The Goal Camera With A Rocket

A two goal effort from Ovi last night, but the boys fell to the Oilers in the shootout after losing two different 2 goal leads. Was not their best 3rd period to say the least, almost as if they were already looking ahead to sunny beaches and not worrying about closing out a very bad Oilers team. After the first, I thought the Caps might put a 10 spot up. Edmonton’s goalie Viktor Fasth– he was terrible. Slowest lateral movement I’ve seen all year. But the Caps could not stay out of the box. took 6 penalties last night, including 3 in the 3rd. Late game penalties have been their main problem all year and it definitely cost them a point last night.

Regardless, it’s all good. They couldn’t keep winning 17 games in a row. You have to regress to the mean at some point. But even still at the break the Caps are a healthy 24-13-9. Ovi has 6 points in his last 3 games, and is now 3rd in the league with 27 total. Holtby has been nothing short of Vezina worthy. He has stood on his head to keep them in games. He has faced the 3rd most shots of any goalie while playing the 2nd most games, and still has a 2.26 GAA and .921 Save %. When the defense fucks up, he’s been there to bail them out time and time again.

The Caps won’t hit the ice for 6 days because of the All Star break, and then they’ll get right back into ravaging the opposition in Columbus and then at home vs the Penguins.
