It Is Embarrassing To Be A Philadelphia Flyers Fan Right Now

I can take the Phillies losing all the time because Ruben drove that team into the ground. I can take the Sixers losing all the time because I trust Sam Hinkie and eventually they gotta be good, right? Hell, I can even take the Eagles shitting the bed a little better because at least I don’t have to blog about them. But being a Flyers fan is so far beyond embarrassing right now that it’s sickening. The team has lost 7 of their last 8 games. They went on a 5 game road trip in which they only won one of them, and then this is how they come back in front of the hometown crowd last night? With a fucking pathetic 4-0 showing? It’s disgusting. This 2015-16 Philadelphia Flyers team looks like a soft team filled with some soft players right now and I’m just trying to weigh the pros and cons to watching them anymore this season. All I could think about last night was just hibernating until April so that the season will be over and the Flyers will at least have a chance to pick up Auston Matthews. And it’s only early November. Whatever. Let’s get to it.

In Case You’ve Been Living Under Iraq, The Flyers Defense Stinks

How many goals are the Flyers going to give up this year right on the doorstep because they can’t compete enough to clear bodies in front of the net and clear the puck away? Because I think they’re averaging 2 per game right now. And let’s be fair here, it’s not just the Flyers defensemen that suck. The entire team as a whole is pathetic defensively. Just put your stick on the ice, take the body, pull out your sack and make a play. I realize a lot of things are much easier said than done but this is becoming a pattern for the Flyers. You’d think that a team that just lost 6 of 7 games would want to go out in front of the crowd at home and really work to get a win but instead they decided to take the night off again and that’s more of a slap in the face than anything.

Through 15 Games This Season, Jake Voracek Still Has 0 Goals

I had Voracek’s back before this. Figured he just needed one lucky bounce to go his way and then the floodgates would open up. Figured if he just kept plugging away something would drop for him and then he could get the monkey off his back. But that monkey has evolved into a full-sized gorilla and it’s not cute anymore. This team’s downfall is obviously on defense but they’re not much better in the offensive zone either. They got outshot 40-25 last night. They didn’t even register double-digit shots on net until at least midway through the 2nd period. And Colorado came into the night giving up the most shots per game in the league. The Flyers have only scored 9 goals in their last 8 games. That’s not a great way to win hockey games when your blueline is nothing more than a few traffic cones on skates. Voracek needs to score. He just has to. He’s a professional hockey player and one of the best in the league. Just fucking score a goal.

At Least Gudas Was There For Stress Relief

Gudas was the only Flyer that I didn’t hate last night. Broad Street Bullies. Sure, he me be terrible with the puck on his stick and he may tip-toe the line of legality, but I need him in my life right now. His hip checks are the only thing that are keeping me going.

Michal Neuvirth Wants No Part Of A Goalie Controversy 

Steve Mason hasn’t been having his best season ever and for the most part, Michal Neuvirth has been very solid all year long. So with that, naturally, came discussions about maybe the Flyers have a little goalie controversy on their hands. Well last night, Neuvy came out to squash those rumors and put them to rest by giving up a couple of softies. Guess the starting job belongs to Mason and Mason only.
