Hockey Round Up: November 2nd to November 9th

Your weekly Hockey Round Up blog is back. Come on over

Todd McLellan

1)We are starting with a rant by Don Cherry. Grapes says the Flyers injured McDavid on purpose because they’re scumbags and I agree with him. Philly gonna Philly. This was the best Coach’s Corner of the year.

The Flyers deserve everything that comes their way. Karma is a bitch

Andrew Ladd punishing the Flyers

2)Boston and Montreal was the HNIC game this week on Saturday night. Montreal was up to their old tricks. Bunch of divers and cheap shot artists

No word on how long Miller is out after this wicked two-hand by Markov.

3)Don Cherry talked about Dusty Buff in the Coach’s Corner video. He’s been in every Round Up so far this year. Human highlight reel. You don’t hit Buff, Buff hits you.

4) Lets take a look at the Larsson hit against Vancouver

Larsson was give a 5 Minute Major and a game misconduct, but no supplemental discipline. This hit was late and the principle point of contact was the head. I typically side with the player on bang-bang hits like this, but I think Larsson should’ve been suspended. Between this play and the Zetterberg hit the NHL has been a little wishy-washy on hits to the head so far this season. Something to keep an eye on as we go along here

5) I blame Tim Wolfe for this

6) Goals of the week

Sam Bennet undresses Pittsburgh

Sticking with the Flames. Johnny Hockey and Monahan score without letting the puck hit the ice

Artie Panera continues to light it up

Jack Eichel. So smooth, so strong on his skates.

Nate MacKinnon…wheels and finish

7) Jake Allen alone with the saves of the week

8) Power Rankings

No.1: Dallas

Patrick Sharp

The best team in the league right now and the best team to watch. The GameCenter/Centre Ice package is worth getting just to watch the Dallas Stars right now. So good, and so many pretty plays.

No 2: Montreal. Getting it done without Carey Price is impressive.

No. 3: New York Rangers. New York-Montreal in the ECF seems like it’s already scheduled. Nobody else in the East is built as solidly as these two. Depth, speed, structure, goaltending.

No. 4: St Louis. As always, the Blues will shit the bed in April or May, but they’re playing good hockey right now

No. 5: Washington. Really solid team, but still just a notch or two below Montreal and New York.

That’s my top 5. Comment section reaction…

Barret Jackman

As always, feel free to leave your top 5 in the comments.

That’s it for this week.

Thanks to everyone who sent in tips and GIFs. Especially Ozzie Stern and Pete Blackburn(probably). Also, big thanks and a shout out to @NHLgif_. I just discovered this account. Does a great job collecting GIFs from just about every game.
