Kobe Was Sent Home From Practice Yesterday Because He Was Too Angry

ESPN - A day after calling himself “the 200th-best player in the league right now” and saying “I freaking suck,” a struggling Kobe Bryant was given the day off from Lakers practice Monday because he was “really angry” with himself, Lakers coach Byron Scott said. “I said, just stay away from the gym today,” Scott said after the team’s practice at their facility here. “Just spend some time with your kids and family and get basketball off your mind for 24 hours if you can — which I don’t think he can — and then come in tomorrow fresh and we’ll go from there.” Bryant is averaging 17.3 points but on 31.3 percent shooting from the floor, including 20.7 percent shooting from 3-point range. “I just can’t make a shot,” Bryant said after Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Mavericks, during which he missed 12 of 15 shots while scoring 15 points. Scott said Monday that he’s fine with Bryant’s shot selection and that he’s not concerned with Bryant in general. “He’s going to get to the Kobe that we know,” Scott said. “It’s just three games into the season. It’s still very early.”

This is getting sad. Kobe stunk last year. STUNK. Came back healthy this year. Ready to go. Ready to be Kobe. And guess what? He freaking STINKS. He can’t shoot, he’s slow, he doesn’t have legs, and he has a rookie PG who is busy banging a Kardashian. It’s like watching Jordan on the Wizards but whatever is 4x worse than that. And now Kobe is being sent home from practice to play with his kids. Byron Scott is like “practice won’t even help you now old man”.  I don’t know if it’s possible that Kobe will continue shooting 20.7% from 3, but you know sure as shit he’s not going to stop shooting.

And the thing is, he has nobody to pass to either. The Lakers offense is in shambles. Kobe averages 4.8 assists/game over his career, this year, albeit through 3 games, 1.7. Their leader in assists is…you guess it…Swaggy P. No just kidding, even he can’t average more than 1.7/game. It’s Marcelo Huertas, some dude from Brazil who is averaging 3 per game playing an average of 14 minutes.

I sure hope this is Kobe’s last year. Let’s just remember him for being a bad ass, one of the last of his generation who isn’t bffs with everyone on the court, and a competitor who only wants to win. Not as a guy who needs 20 shots to score 15 points and can’t get back on defense because his legs work as well as a young Forest Gump’s.
