Bryce Welcomes Good Ol' Dusty To DC
I got all my negativity out last night and on Twitter. I’m not thrilled about Dusty Baker coming to the Nats. But then I realized, well, he’s our guy and he hassss taken 3 different teams to the playoffs, so there’s no point on dwelling over it. So after a good 12 hours of hating the move, I then turned to “welp, might as well make the most of it, it definitely could be worse”.
Now I don’t know how Dusty feels about being called “good ol Dusty” but if Bryce is calling him Good Ol Dusty, he better like it. This is Good Ol Dusty’s chance to finally prove the haters and naysayers wrong. He’s gone 20 years of managing without winning a world series, no better time to change that than now. Sure he doesn’t believe in stats, and sure he was having Mark Prior throw 130 pitch games in meaningless September games, but the past is in the past. I am not going to think about that stuff. That was so long ago. This is new Dusty. We have Dusty v. 4.0. He’s a respected major league manager, he has a ton of wins under his belt, the players like playing for him, coaches like coaching for him, and all of that is hard to come by. He’s not the best hire, but again, he’s certainly not the worst. He has 2 years to win a World Series here. #DCorNothing has never been more important.
