PK Subban Donated 10 Million Dollars To A Montreal Children's Hospital

(Source) — P.K. Subban is giving back to the city he now calls home. The Canadiens defenseman is donating $10 million to the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation in what the hospital is calling “the biggest philanthropic commitment by a sports figure in Canadian history.” Subban also committed to a seven-year fundraising project for the hospital. “Montreal has become my second home,” Subban said Wednesday. “Montrealers have taken me into their hearts. And I hope to remain here for a very long time. “My love for Montreal is why I wanted to make a significant contribution to this city and to this province.” As part of the donation, the hospital named its atrium after Subban. “The P.K. Subban Atrium is not only my footprint to the city but, more importantly, it is my sole promise to give back to those who have given me so much,” he said.

Couldn’t have gone anonymous, huh PK? Needed the shine. Needed the glory. Needed everyone to tell you how amazing you are? Unreal. If you were a real philanthropist then you would’ve cut that check and not needed your name in an atrium. It’s fake philanthropy. Too many people do this kind of thing because they want the credit, and you’re just the same as them.

Of course, I’m kidding. Gotta tip your cap to PK for this move. I know a lot of people hate him, as so many were quick to drop the N bomb on him when he scored the game winner back in 2014. But I’ve always been a PK fan. I think his off-ice interviews are funny, I think that video where he randomly played street hockey with kids is cool, and I even appreciate his on-ice game. If you don’t hold your breath every time he gets the puck on the power play then you’re a fool. Because of that, I get hating him as an opponent, but if you can’t take a second to recognize this then you’re probably a racist asshole.
