How Many Times Are You Allowed To Be The NHL's First Star of the Week?

ovi celebrate

Capitals - Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin has been named the NHL’s “First Star” for the week ending Oct. 6, the NHL announced today.
Ovechkin led the NHL in goals (4), points (6), power-play goals (3), power-play points (5) and shots on goal (24) just days after returning from Greece, where he became the first Russian to carry the Olympic torch for the 2014 Sochi Winter Games.

Yawn yawn yawn. Is there a mercy rule when it comes to this? If not, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Bettman create it. He has to throw his boy Crosby a bone. Otherwise, just give Ovi all the first stars right now, and have everyone else battle for the second star. He looks to be in the best shape since his rookie season. His shot is going 1000 miles an hour (give or take). And maybe most importantly, I haven’t seen him fire a shot into the ninth row yet. Until the caps and pens play and Ovi is cheap-shotted because Dan Bylsma is a blood spouting vagina, I don’t see number 8 slowing down.
