Grand Jury For Patrick Kane's Rape Case Has Been Postponed Amid Talks Of A Potential Settlement
(Source) A grand jury investigation into rape allegations against National Hockey League star Patrick Kane set to begin Tuesday afternoon has been abruptly postponed, according to three current and former law enforcement sources with knowledge of the case. The reason for the delay appears to involve the possibility of ongoing settlement talks between attorneys for Kane and the victim, two of the sources said.
The Buffalo News last week confirmed that summonses had been issued by the Erie County District Attorney’s Office to individuals directing them to appear before the grand jury, with the first witness set for 2 p.m. Tuesday. Kane has been accused by a young woman of sexually-assaulting her in his Hamburg mansion after meeting her at a downtown bar early last month. Town of Hamburg police and the Erie County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the allegations against the Chicago Blackhawks superstar.

Well here’s your first real update from the Patrick Kane case that is now entering it’s second month. There are multiple reasons both sides could want to seek a settlement out of court which doesn’t mean Patrick Kane is guilty or innocent or that the victim is going for some “money grab” that people keep shouting about, it just means exactly what it means, this case could be settled out of court and no charges will be filed and a confidentiality clause would be drawn up meaning the truth or more details will never come out. Honestly if this doesn’t get concluded by the time camp starts I hope the Blackhawks tell Kane to stay away for the time being. Even if that means he misses time in the season, there are more important things in life than hockey and the Hawks. Let this situation reach it’s natural conclusion whether that be in or out of court and then make a decision from there. Hopefully the Front Office agrees.
Also as an aside I think I’ve been pretty fair throughout this whole process. I know some people have criticized me for not “defending our guy” but that’s bullshit because I haven’t taken a side either way thus far. I have zero facts, I don’t have any clue what transpired, so choosing a blind side would be the wrong thing to do especially considering the nature of a he said/she said rape case involving a very famous person. People with anonymous handles on twitter or comment sections across the internet will say shit they would never say in real life with their name attached but I have a certain level of accountability here that I think most people understand, not to mention the simple fact that even if I didn’t I would feel the same way and would say the same thing. I have no clue what happened, I have no clue what will happen, all I can do is wait and see and not make a blind statement one way or the other that isn’t fair to anyone.
