Cool Stat From Last Night - Bryce Harper Had 0 Official At Bats, Swung 0 Times, And Scored 4 Runs
Yahoo – The Washington Nationals pounded the Atlanta Braves on Thursday, winning 15-1. Harper scored four of those runs but didn’t really do any pounding. Unless you count pounding the dirt out of his cleats. Harper came to the plate four times, he saw 20 pitches and didn’t swing at a single one. Each time he walked, he came around to score. Once, he walked with the bases loaded. His final line for the night: 0-for-0, four runs, one RBI and four walks. You don’t see that one every night. In fact, it’s only happened three other times since 1914. The other players to score four runs in a game without registering an official at-bat:
• Larry Doby in 1951
• Joe Morgan in 1973
• Rickey Henderson in 1989
None of those three also had an RBI. Oh, and this is worth noting: The Nats pulled Harper in the sixth inning because the game was out of hand.

Thought that was just a cool stat from last night. 4 at bats, 0 swings, 4 runs scored. Just standing up there at the plate watching pitches go low and away, low and away, low and away.
A lot of people have noticed that Bryce’s power surge has really calmed down recently. He barely is hitting homers at all anymore. And why is that? Because he gets fewer pitches to hit than anyone.
That is a remarkable stat. He is seeing fewer pitches than Bonds when Barry was hopped up on horse steroids. He had only 2 HRs in August, but still hit .327. with a .909 OPS. In July he only had 5 HRs but his OPS was 1.015. Insanity.
Would be cool for him to get hot and slug a few more out to end the year, but if he’s seeing nothing but balls in the dirt every at bat, he’ll just take his walks.
