The "Can't Hit In October" Narrative For Aaron Judge Keeps Getting Worse And If He Doesn't Turn It Around Fast, The Yankees' Season Will Be Over

The Yankees mustered up nothing but a dull roar last night in Game 2 of the ALDS. It was a dismal effort at the plate against Cole Ragans and co. as the Royals evened up the series. Carlos Rodon's hot start fizzled out quick in the 4th. Giancarlo's speed killed them once again. They couldn't string together hits to save their lives.

As I said in the blog last night, it was a typical 2024 Yankees loss as they were stifled by lefty pitching. In reality the Yankees are lucky to be evened up at one all in the series given how back and forth Game 1 was.

If the Yankees are to advance in this series and go deep into October then Aaron Judge is simply going to have to be Aaron Judge. It's an obvious take that someone with half a brain could conjure up. A big reason why the Yankees won the AL East and finished with the best record in the league was that Aaron Judge put up the best season by a right handed hitter ever. Soto and Judge all year terrorized opposing pitchers. When they're on they transform the lineup. The guys feed off of those two. When Judge is going up there in back to back games with two on and no out in the bottom of the first and striking out, it's depressing. A hush spreads throughout the whole stadium. Over the course of the season that kind of situation would result in a big inning. Judge was a big part of the reason that the Yankees were one of the best first inning teams in all of baseball. The whole game changed after that at bat, especially last night with Ragans nearly on the ropes early there.

Judge needs to show up when Game 3 gets going Wednesday night. I don't know if he's gotta change up his tactics and swing early in the count, but you gotta do something. The Royals seem to be pitching him low and in and then up in the zone. He's missing fastballs and fouling them off when they should be sent 450+ feet. Dude is just off right now and feeding the haters with every passing moment. I'm just exhausted of seeing these stats.

Just relax and hit the baseball, for my sanity and everyone else's. Hopefully his infield hit last night late in the game helps reset him mentally and we see a different guy in Game 3. Otherwise, we're doomed.
