'We'll See How Far Instagram Followers Get Them': Colorado State Is Talking a Big Game Ahead of This Year's Matchup Against Colorado
For as much as comments made by Colorado players and coaches usually make headlines on game weeks, it's the Buffs' opponent that is doing the talking leading into CU's in-state rivalry game with Colorado State. CSU coach Jay Norvell is letting his players speak their minds, I guess, because both WR Tory Holton and QB Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi did not hold back in their thoughts on the Rams' in-state rival.
I don't know if Colorado State should have "murdered" Colorado last year, but it probably should have won the game. The Rams had a 99 percent win probability up 28-20 with 2:06 left and the Buffs backed up to their own 2-yard line, but Colorado took the ball 98 yards in just 1:30 and got the two-point conversion to force overtime. If CSU had managed to not commit even just one of its four turnovers, it probably would have won. So it's reasonable to see why a team that nearly beat Colorado as a 24-point underdog on the road last year likes its chances as just a 7-point underdog this year at home.
This game last year also featured the controversial hit on Travis Hunter that kept him sidelined for three weeks, so both teams seem to have plenty of ammunition headed into the re-match on Saturday.
I'm excited for this matchup. Obviously, Colorado needs to get things turned around quickly, but CSU seems to be as fired up as any team can be for another shot at Coach Prime and the Buffs. It should be an awesome atmosphere.
