A Couple Of Iowans Arrested On Their Way To The Pokemon Championships After They Made Threats Were Armed To The Teeth
PC Mag- The Boston Police Department is reporting that it has arrested two Pokémon World Championship attendees after the two made threats made over social media—and then brought their weapons to the tournament itself. Kevin Norton, 18, and James Stumbo, 27, were both expected to take part in the “masters division” of the Pokemon Trading Card Game World Championships. However, Stumbo had previously posted a picture of a crisscrossed 12 gauge shotgun and an AR-15 rifle on Facebook with the caption, “Kevin Norton and I are ready for worlds Boston here we come!!!” “Security officers at the Hynes, officers in District D-4, and the BRIC immediately began investigation into these threats, and hours later, the two male suspects were stopped attempting to enter the event. BRIC and D-4 Detectives responded to further investigate. Detectives were informed that the suspects had driven to the event from Iowa and were in possession of several firearms in their vehicle. The suspects could not produce a License to Carry. Officers seized the vehicle, and the suspects were released pending a search warrant,” reads the Boston Police Department’s description. Said guns recovered from the pair’s vehicle appeared to match those from the Facebook post. Also found in the car were several hundreds of rounds of ammunition, as well as a hunting knife. While it’s currently unknown whether Norton and Stumbo intended to act upon any threat, the events’ various attendees are probably still a bit anxious after the fact given what could have happened. -
Well that’s pretty fucked up, huh? A couple of strapped up Iowans headed to the Pokemon Championships to settle some type of score. It’s a funny story now but only because these guys got arrested and the fact that there’s a Pokemon Championship is pretty hilarious. If I still had my Pokemon card collection I’d show up and make it rain hell fire with Charizard instead of bullets. But this situation could’ve been a lotttttttttt worse if people hadn’t spoken up about the post they saw on Facebook. Maybe those guys were just joking around and maybe they weren’t. Too much shit like this has been happening recently for people to simply ignore it. The fact that these guys posted it on social media leads me to believe they might be dumb enough to actually hurt people. Oh and I don’t care that these dudes are Iowans. Let’em fry. Run-ins with the police are for assholes.
