Let The Bidding War Begin: NIL Monster Haley Cavinder Is Un-Retiring From College Basketball And Entering The Transfer Portal

We've got some news in the sports/influencer/tiktok/smut/pageviews world as 1/2 of the Cavinder twins are returning to college basketball and entering the portal.

NY Post

Haley Cavinder announced on Instagram on Friday she is returning to college basketball with a highlight video captioned: “see you next season, #year5.” Haley, though, will not return for the upcoming season that begins next month and instead will focus on the 2024-’25 season.

“As a businesswoman, she’s excited to see what type of opportunities there might be in the portal,” Haley’s agent, Jeff Hoffman, told On3.com.

“It comes from a foundation of she misses basketball more than anything in the world and as it approaches another season, even more so. She is going to hop in the portal. She’s 100% making her return to college basketball.”

This past year the Cavinder twins said good bye to the college basketball world and became full-time influencers. Since then they've teamed up with Raising Cane’s, Boost Mobile, Champs Sports and Victoria’s Secret. They also have both trained with the WWE after signing an NIL deal with the wrestling company. Estimates had them raking in at least $2M through NIL. Decent college beer money I'd say.

Apparently the decision to walk away from college basketball wasn't an easy one for Haley as opposed to Hanna, who averaged under four points in less than 16 minutes a game. Haley is actually pretty good and averaged over double digits a night. She missed the game and couldn't resist the itch.

Listen I get it. Coming from experience, the influencer life can be pretty exhausting and demanding. Every day you wake up to your phone ringing off the hook from your sponsors make you do a billion different things. Shoot this commercial, make this appearance, attend this glamorous party. Not everyone is built for this life. If you still have a chance to live like a kid, take it.

The question that now remains is how Haley stands without Hanna by her side. Imagine the Morris twins splitting up at Kansas? Would've been a disaster. We'll see how these two handle the life change. I expect Skip, Shannon Sharpe, and Stephen A. to break this all down on their respective shows come Monday.

Not the worst way to live your life. She's rich, attractive, and gets to dominate another year of college life after getting a taste of the real world. What's the harm in one more year of playing a division 1 sport? The influencer money will still be there when the season is done, so go do what makes you happy.

But where does she go? If she decides to leave Miami maybe LSU is the new spot? You know they dominate the NIL game better than anyone. Maybe she teams up with Caitlin Clark at Iowa?  Either way, it's a great time to be a college athlete. Haley Cavinder is doing it right. I'm sure there's a fuck ton of college athletes who are jealous of her, but they can all kick rocks. Gets yours and don't worry about anyone else.

It's checkbook time for a lot of premier division 1 college basketball schools.
