John Mayer Will Be Hosting His Own Sirius XM Channel Called "Life With John Mayer"

If you canceled your Sirius XM subscription when Barstool Radio went off the air, it's time to re-up. Starting in November John Mayer is getting his own channel called Life with John Mayer. What will be airing on the channel? Straight from John himself ...

You’ll hear my music, the music I love, my thoughts and insights, and lots of other surprises to come. I’ll be posting updates as I continue to bring LIFE to life. Ooh, this is gonna be *fun*

If you know John Mayer as the pop musician who wrote Your Body Is A Wonderland and Daughters, it's time to get with the times. John is one of the best guitar players to walk the planet. He's a chameleon on guitar, meaning he can see how any guitar player plays and play the exact same way. Touring with Dead and Co. has taken some of the pop star stink off of Mayer, while opening up to new audiences, and this Sirius channel will only show more of his music range.

Not only is Mayer musically gifted, but his wit makes him hilarious. If JM wasn't a rockstar, he could be a comedy writer or stand-up comedian. You will be listening to one of music's great historians and great story tellers talk about whatever is on his mind. During Covid, Mayer created his own show on his instagram live called "Current Mood" where he did stand-up, interviewed famous guests, and had musical performances. Dave Chappelle, Casey David, Bob Saget (RIP), David Spade, Halsey, and Thundercat to name a few guests. Not sure if this show will feature guests, but If Life With John is the radio version of Current Mood, we are all in for a treat.

The press release from Sirius XM also said Mayer would be featuring unreleased songs, which sucks me right where I need to be sucked. Mayer is a creative guy, so giving him unlimited creative freedom to do whatever he wants on his own channel, should be a great time for all of us. Tom Petty used to have his own radio show and it ruled because Tom Petty is a wealth of music knowledge and has worked with everyone in the music industry. My only fear is Mayer is going to pull a Tom Petty and literally work himself to death.

Personally, I can't fucking wait. I've heard some previous radio appearances where JM has gotten the chance to host, and they are awesome. The one I'm specifically thinking of, he took some of his songs and mixed them in with hip-hop beats. (JM's range extends into features on some hip-hop bangers including Bittersweet with Kanye, Go with Common, Ride With Me with Nelly.) It was an interesting sound, and super cool to see a musical genius tinker around LIVE with beats in the studio. I'll probably try and find a way to illegally listen to Life With John Mayer before I get Sirius XM, but I can't wait to see what John Mayer cooks up on his own channel.
