Kmarko's DraftKings Picks - August 17

Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy baseball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the night before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for tonight, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.

Had a nice little Sunday, placing in both the usual MLB tourney

And, as a little bonus, the PGA Millionaire Maker.

Always fun to win some money over the weekend. Hope it’s a good sign of things to come for the week. Let’s get into it.

PITCHER NOTES:

Whoooeeeee, it’s a rough slate tonight.

-Gerrit Cole is my top dog. Baltimore is way too hot to spend up to 11.9 on Sonny Gray, and the Sox are WAY too hot to trust Salazar not to blow up.

-The mid-tier options are so bad today you may have to spend up and pair with Hamels, Kazmir or Wacha. Which is tough because the Rays are good against lefties, the Giants are good against righties, and Hamels has been inconsistent. Sooo basically…good luck choosing!

-Like I said, mid tier is brutal. Rodon, Garza and Rea are worth looks I guess, which shows you just how nauseous I am picking my pitchers tonight.

HITTERS:

3B Matt Carpenter $4.7K

Feel like I’ve been featuring him a lot lately, and he keeps coming through for me. You know how you have those guys that no matter when you roster them, you can never catch them on their good nights? Carpenter is the opposite for me. (of course I definitely just jinxed that for tonight). Heston has finally hit some skids in his awesome season, and the Cards always turn it on this time of year…look for Carpenter to put up double digits tonight.

OF Ryan Braun $4.6K

Braun is my top “big money” outfielder today coming in at a nice cheap 4.6K. I’m not going to try and talk you out of red hot Nelson Cruz against a lefty, or Mike Trout against Rodon. But Braun with a great matchup against the young lefty is what I’m feeling best about. The Brewers have stunk pretty much all year, but they’re a top 5 offense to target tonight and Braun has been on a pretty nice stretch lately.

2B Brian Dozier $4.4K

I don’t even know who this guy the Yankees are starting is. Mitchell? Whatever. Dozier can be boom or bust, but I’m banking on a boom tonight mashing one out of Yankee stadium.

OF Gregory Polanco $4.3K

I usually try to give a value play, but I like these 4 guys a lot tonight. Polanco is one of the hottest guys at the plate right now, and is coming off a great series vs the Mets. If you can hit off that staff you can definitely hit off the DBacks staff, and I’m looking for Polanco to keep his hot streak going.
