The Commanders Have Officially Hired Eric Bieniemy As The New Offensive Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach

I love this hire a lot. While he was the long-time OC in Kansas City, this is not a lateral move for Eric Bieniemy. He gets to call plays in Washington (which he never got to do under Andy Reid) and he also gets the title of Assistant Head Coach, which is big. It says to me they are giving him a ton of trust and possibly grooming him to be the future head coach of the franchise.

Now, the question is- who the fuck is his QB?? As of today, 5th round pick Sam Howell who started 1 game last season is slotted in as the starter. It doesn't exactly inspire confidence- I'm not saying it's impossible for Howell to be a good QB, you just rarely see 5th round QBs prosper in the NFL, especially after having such limited playing time. Will it be Bieniemy's job to turn Howell into a legit starter? Or will he be allowed to bring in a veteran..or perhaps draft someone in the 1st round of this coming up draft?

People are wondering "why didn't he wait for a better spot than WASHINGTON"? Well, Rivera is likely on his way out so if Bieniemy shows promise, he could be the coach in waiting. Secondly, besides the question at quarterback (which I get is a stupid thing to say, but I'm looking for positives here), Washington has a pretty good core on offense. Deep at running back, very deep at WR, and intriguing TEs. The OLine needs improvement, which I expect to be their top priority this offseason. And third, the defense is already good. EB can worry about the offense knowing that the defense is in a good spot.

I'm excited and optimistic about the future of this team. A new owner, an intriguing new OC, and my god if we can just find a QB to throw the ball to Terry, the world is our oyster.
