The $EBR crew is known to be a problem for the Barstool Sportsbook with our winning ways in European Hockey and the NHL mostly…but the World Cup is starting and running for a month which provides many things.

A. More action to get us through the workday.

B. Another opportunity to start building the bankroll for holiday present shopping.

C. Learn more about the most popular sport in the world.

This is a preview blog about the group format that starts off the tournament and we will give group winners with the odds from the Barstool Sportsbook.  I may have not said this but I love football, it truly is a fantastic sport that allows you to zone out for 90 minutes without commercials and relax. Now I know the times in the states will be tough with the West coast having the early wake-up time at 5 am but come on it's the world cup.

This blog has something for everyone. Whether a gambler who only wants to win, a new fan of soccer looking to enjoy and learn, or an American who wants to see the boys make a run.

So enough already Murls let's get to it… EVERYBODY RIDES!!!

$EBR World Cup Group Preview - Group C

Teams: Argentina, Mexico, Poland, Saudi Arabia

Argentina -250:  “Messi, Messi, Messi “will be the chants from fans and tv commentators, and rightfully so. Leo Messi is arguably the best football player this planet has ever seen and I am in agreement.  If you believe in Karma then you should be all in on Argentina because this is Messi’s last dance.  Argentina is very good from top to bottom and the new coach has them playing a style that fits better by allowing Messi to roam and pick spots. But this team lives and dies by his greatness of him and the team stepped up in Copa South America to win and give him his first international trophy.

Goal Scorer: Lautaro Martinez (Inter Milan) He is considered one of the best strikers in the world and I agree. He is a modern-day striker, who relies on his speed and finishing ability.  If he gets hot and can draw the coverage away from Messi and others this team will be hard to beat.

Mexico +450: The Mexicans always show up and are competitive but never are able to make a run in these big tourneys.  I do not see them getting out of the round-robin stage due to a lack of creativity in the midfield and relying on players who are lacking on the big stage. Normally a very consistent team but that has been missing. This group will not lay down for anyone and will be in all games.

Goal Scorer: Hirving Lozano(Napoli) also known as Chucky will be relied on heavily to score goals and be the top of the press when the team goes into it.  If he gets cold then they really have no chance.

Poland +550: This team is my dark horse and that is basically because the hands-down best goal scorer in the world is Sweet Lew. Lewandowski scores wherever he plays and that is a fact. Poland also has a world-class goalie that plays for Juventus and he can keep this side in games. But this team’s ceiling is to make it out 2nd in the group and lose to whoever is in the knockout rounds. They have serious concerns about their defense and depth but when Lew is out there you have a chance.

Goal Scorer: Lewandowski (Barcelona) Sweet Lew is dominant and will score every game. But keep an eye on Nicola Zalewski(Roma) he was just voted Young Golden Boy which basically stamps you as a rising star.

Saudi Arabia +2100: Obviously a really long shot, this cagey team plays a defensive shutdown mode game and basically waits for set pieces to get goals.  They will cause a team like Mexico fits with their stingy D but will struggle against Argentina which can create chances.

Goal Scorer: They will not score a goal this tournament but if they do it will most likely come from Firas Al-Buraikan. This youngster is fast and will attack the defender from the wing and will be most likely take any dangerous free kicks.

$EBR Group Winner: Argentina and it's not close.
