This Is A Formal Demand To Make Today - June 23 - A National Holiday

The fact that we're not watching the US win Group B right this second pisses me off. Fucking FIFA. I can't believe we have to wait until November to watch our boys remind England who kicks their ass in everything. 12 years ago today, we had the greatest moment in US history. At least for me. You could argue maybe beating Mexico 2-0 in 2002. But this? This was the first World Cup where it felt like everyone was watching together and social media. It gave us this reaction:

I'll never forget being so fucking pissed at Algeria during this game. In case you don't remember, all 4 teams in the group had a chance to advance heading into this last day. Algeria had the slimmest chance though, especially when England scored (going on at the same time) early. They played this conservative game which made no fucking sense. It's like they were trying to fuck the US and let Slovenia and England advance.

That's until it happened. Let's watch it again.

Today should be a national holiday. Everything about this play was perfect starting with the throw from Tim Howard. Somehow that gets overlooked every time. You can't convinced me that this really started the soccer growth in America. I don't want to hear about TV deals, social media, anything like that. We came together as a country to cheer for one single team and got a walk-off goal.

By the way my current list of favorite (not best) USMNT players ever goes as follows:

5. Oguchi Onyewu

4. Landon Donovan

3. Christian Pulisic

2. Carlos Bocanegra

1. Clint Dempsey

Hit the music. Make today a national holiday and make this our national anthem:
