Random-As-Hell US Open Leader MJ Daffue Is Already a Champion of the People For Even Attempting This Shot

South Africa has produced its fair share of excellent golfers over the years, but MJ Daffue wasn't exactly on anybody's radar as he prepared to make his major debut this week at age 33. That hasn't stopped him from climbing atop the second-round leaderboard at the U.S. Open, and if the pressure is getting to him whatsoever, Daffue wasn't showing it on the par-five 14th.

Seriously, what the actual fuck is this guy even doing? THE STONES to hit that shot off the hospitality area, rather than play it safe and take a penalty drop. The wayward shot and awful swing that got him to this position had to be in his head. With a two-shot edge at five under par, Daffue let it absolutely rip. Even Nick Faldo was wondering aloud what Daffue was thinking!

The ball wound up just next to the green to position Daffue for yet another birdie. Here's the bad news: Daffue duffed his chip in the thick greenside rough, and failed to get up and down from there. Still, to be four under through 32 holes at a U.S. Open is a fine achievement for any golfer, much less someone who damn near no one has ever heard of before, more or less, now.

Congrats if you chose Daffue as your pre-tournament champion. His odds to be leading even after Round 2 had to be astronomical. Best of luck the rest of the way, MJ Daffue!
