The Future Is So Bright for the Pelicans that It Is Blinding

It is pretty damn difficult to beat perfection. And tonight, former New Orleans superstar Chris Paul reminded the world why he is one of the best to ever do it in his old home arena. Paul shot 14 of 14 from the field and the Suns defeated the Pelicans 115-109 to win the series 4-2.

With the game on the line, the Pelicans looked like a young flustered team with multiple turnovers and missed shots. And that was all Paul and the Suns needed. I felt like I saw a hundred Chris Paul shots rattle around on the rim and go in this series.

But it is literally impossible to be mad at these Pelicans. After a 1-12 start and Zion not playing one minute, they pulled off the unthinkable and made the playoffs. New Orleans went from getting bagged on as not deserving an team to the wildest playoff atmosphere in the NBA. It was a surreal 2 months. And I am very grateful as a fan to have seen it.

One year ago, all the Pelicans had to be excited about was star Brandon Ingram. And he took a huge step forward this season. They hired the right guy finally in Willie Green and he 180ed the culture. They stole CJ McCollum from Portland and three rookies stepped up huge. The Jonas Valliciunas trade also paid off big.

Hopefully Zion comes back healthy next year but regardless of that, the future is so bright for this franchise that it is blinding. I already cannot wait for next season to see The Blender rockin' with the most exciting young team in the NBA!
